Getting Started with Joist Payments

Joist Payments is here! And getting started couldn’t be easier:

Step 1: Create an invoice and turn on the new Payments switch

Step 2: Send your invoice to your client just like you normally would

Step 3: The client opens the invoice, clicks the new Pay Now button and enters their credit card information

Step 4: You receive an email about your payment with a link to complete your payments account setup and get your money

That’s it! You’re now able to receive credit card payments from your clients and have the money transferred to your bank account automatically.

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions:

What does it cost?
Joist Payments has no setup fees or monthly fees of any kind. Just an industry standard transaction fee of 2.9% and 30 cents. The Joist app is still free.

How long does it take?
In most cases you can have your money in your bank account on the next business day.

Do I have to use Joist Payments?
You're in control. You can still send invoices without Joist Payments enabled. Use Joist Payments as much or as little as you like.

Is there a swiper?
Joist Payments is done entirely through your Joist invoice. You never have to take your client’s credit card or even their credit card information.

Can I use this for deposits or draws?
Absolutely. Joist Payments has a partial payments option that your client can choose when paying. You just let them know how much of the invoice you are requesting and they can pay you exactly that amount.
