Items are the actual line items / description of work details that will go directly on your estimate and invoice documents.
An Item can be Materials, Labour or any other description of work that will appear on your document.
Every item has a Name and a Rate and can also include a Description.
When you add an item to an estimate or invoice you will need to enter the Quantity for the item. This determines how many units of the item are being used/charged for. Some items are not units but singular in nature, so you can simply set the Quantity to 1 in those cases.
Joist will calculate the total cost of the item for you by multiplying the Rate and the Quantity.
Finally, you can also apply a Tax (or taxes) to an item. Joist will calculate the tax and apply it to the total for the item.
