Markup is a great way to ensure you are making a profit and supporting your business on every job you do.
Because not all clients understand the necessity of adding markup to a job, Joist includes an easy way to add markup to any estimate or invoice without calling it to your client's attention.
Steps to add a markup to an estimate or invoice
iOS, Android and Web
Step 1: First, create a new estimate or invoice, or edit an existing one.
Step 2: Scroll down to the Subtotal area where you will see an option for Markup. Tap or click the word Markup and a screen will appear where you can choose between entering a dollar amount or a percentage.
Step 3: Tap or click $ for dollar amount or % for percentage, then enter the amount and tap Done.
The markup amount will now appear in the Markup area of your estimate or invoice's edit screen, but when you save the document you will see that there is no mention made of the markup for the client to see. The amount you marked up will be evenly distributed amongst all the line items in your estimate or invoice and reflected in the total.
To make changes to your markup, just edit the document, tap or click the amount and repeat the steps above.
