I’m ready, let’s make the switch
There are a few different ways you can sign up for payments in Joist, which we'll go over in this article. As well as how to turn it off if you don't intend to use it at this time.
But first, it's important to note that signing up for payments does not mean you've completed the setup process.
There are a couple of steps needed to allow your clients' payments to flow through to your bank account, the most important being adding your banking information. Completing setup is quick and easy, and you can check on your progress any time from the Payments tab in your Joist app.
There are three areas in Joist where you can sign up for payments.
- From an invoice
- From an estimate
- From the Payments tab
From an invoice or estimate, you'll find a payments switch that you can turn on to sign up. It looks like this:
From the Payments tab, the option to sign up for payments looks like this:
Once payments has been enabled either by turning on the payments switch or tapping the Continue button, an account is created for you and an email is sent inviting you to complete the setup process.
When you sign up for payments in the app, all your estimates and invoices going forward will be payments enabled, giving your clients the option to pay.
But you can disable this feature any time from the Payments tab in Joist. Just turn off the Accept Online Credit Card switch and any estimates or invoices you create from that point forward will have the payments option disabled.
You can also choose to enable or disable the payment option on an estimate by estimate and invoice by invoice basis. Just look for the payments switch when editing your estimate or invoice and turn it on or off as needed.
