Line Item Markup
Updated over a week ago

You can now add a markup to your line items, so you control what gets marked up and what doesn’t.

Because not all line items need to be marked up the same amount, Joist includes an easy way to add a markup to any line item without it impacting the others in your document.

Use the links to jump to instructions for:

Web

Step 1: First, create a new estimate or invoice, or edit an existing one.

Step 2: Create a new line item and you will see an option to add a Markup. Click the New Markup button and a screen will appear where you can type in the Markup Name and Markup Rate (percentage or flat rate).

Step 3: Enter the name and rate and tap Add.

The markup amount will now appear in the Markup area of your estimate or invoice's edit screen, but when you save the document you will see that there is no mention made of the markup for the client to see.

To make changes to your markup, just edit the line item, tap or click the percentage and repeat the steps above.
