Keeping track of your job site visits and daily schedule is essential to running a smooth operation. With Calendar Sync for Scheduled Visits, Joist Run members can sync their Visit schedule directly to their preferred calendar application, including Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook.
Once connected, any new, updated, or canceled Visits created in Joist will automatically refresh in your external calendar so your entire workday stays visible in one place.
How does Calendar Sync work?
Calendar Sync uses a secure subscription link that connects your Joist Visit schedule to your personal or work calendar app.
Automatic updates: New, updated, or canceled visits in Joist automatically reflect in your connected calendar whenever your calendar app refreshes its feed.
Cross-platform access: Works seamlessly whether you use Joist on iOS, Android, or Web, and supports any calendar app that accepts calendar subscriptions.
Read-only subscription: This is a one-way subscription. Changes you make in Joist will appear in your calendar app when it refreshes. However, edits or changes made in your calendar app to a visit will not update Joist.

Important things to know about Calendar Sync
To get the most out of Calendar Sync, keep these key points in mind:
One-Way Sync (Joist → Calendar App): Joist sends schedule updates to your external calendar. Editing or deleting a Visit inside Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook will not update or change your Visits in Joist. Always manage your Visits directly in Joist.
Refresh Frequency: While Joist immediately provides updated Visit details to the feed, external calendar providers (like Google or Apple) decide how frequently they refresh subscription links (often every few hours or once a day). Changes made in Joist may take a short period to appear in your external calendar depending on your provider’s refresh schedule.
Empty Schedule: If you have no Visits currently scheduled in Joist, your connected calendar will stay active and automatically populate as soon as you schedule new Visits.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How often does my external calendar update?
Refresh timing is determined entirely by your calendar app provider (Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc.). Some apps allow you to adjust subscription refresh settings manually, while others refresh automatically every few hours.
To adjust refresh frequency on Mac Calendar, follow the instructions in this article, Refresh calendars on Mac. Mac Calendar allows you to refresh subscribed calendars every 5 minutes, 15 minutes, hourly, daily, or weekly.
What happens if I cancel or delete a Visit in Joist?
The Visit will be automatically removed from your external calendar when the app next refreshes its subscription feed.
Do I need to generate a new link each time I access my schedule?
No. Your unique subscription link stays the same across repeat visits to the Calendar Sync screen.
