We're Moving Forward

Joist Payments will no longer work with WePay as of June 1, 2024

To keep using Joist Payments, click here to switch to our new payment processing partner, Stripe.

Switching takes just a few minutes and ensures no disruption of service. Plus, you'll get new payment methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Note: Below information is the legacy article for WePay and does not apply to Stripe. We'll have new help center articles for Stripe coming soon.

Absolutely. During the signup process for payments, you'll be asked which type of business you operate as. The three options are:

Individual: This would be anyone operating as a trade contractor without an EIN, filing taxes under their SSN.

Sole Proprietor: A trade contractor who has received an EIN from the IRS but is not registered as an LLC.

Incorporated Business: A trade contractor whose business is registered as an LLC and would also have an EIN.

If you do not have an EIN, simply choose Individual during the payments account signup process and you will not be asked to provide an EIN.

If you believe you have completed the signup process under the wrong business type and need this changed, just reach out to us at hello@joist.com and we'll be happy to help get this sorted for you.
