The AI Receptionist with Zyratalk helps you manage customer calls, capture potential clients, and book jobs automatically, so you never miss an opportunity. When connected with Joist, it works seamlessly to save you time and streamline communication. This article will walk you through how to sign up and get started with the AI Receptionist on Joist.

Get Started on Joist
Step 1: Open the Joist app
Step 2: Select the AI Receptionist. You will find the AI Receptionist tab on
Web: the left-side menu bar, then click AI Receptionist
iOS: click More in the bottom right corner of your page, and then click AI Receptionist from the list
Android: click Manage in the bottom right corner of your page, and then click AI Receptionist from the list
Step 3: Click the 14-day trial option
Step 4: Start setting up your AI Receptionist
During this step, you will fill out details about your company and choose your AI Receptionist’s name. Once you’re done, click on the Continue button.
Step 5: Review the details you have filled out in the previous steps
Click on the Back button if you would like to edit any information you filled out in the previous step.
When you’re happy with the information you provided, click Continue AI Receptionist Set Up to finish setting up through Zyratalk.
Doing this will take you to a new page to complete the setup on Zyratalk. These next steps will take 5-10 minutes to complete.
Continue Set Up on Zyratalk
Step 1: Test AI receptionist
In this step, choose how your customer calls are handled by selecting tone of voice, AI receptionist voice (male or female), call details you want collected and information about your business that you want your AI receptionist to know. Then test it all out with a test call.
How would you like your business to sound when AI Receptionist answers customer calls?
First, choose how you want your AI Receptionist to sound when speaking to your clients/potential clients. Click Next to move on.
Choose how your AI Receptionist sounds when answering customer calls
Select a voice for your receptionist (male or female) and then select a name from the dropdown option to choose a name for your AI receptionist.
Once you have selected both, you can test how your AI receptionist will sound to clients. When you’re happy with your selections, click Next to move forward.
Here’s the information AI Receptionist will collect from customer calls.
In this section, you can define the details you want your AI receptionist to collect from customers when they call.
On this page, you will have some pre-filled suggestions that define the questions you want your AI Receptionist to answer on calls. You can leave all of the pre-filled suggestions in place, edit them as needed, or delete any suggestions you don’t want.
Click the Trash Can icon to delete any suggestions that you don’t need.
Click on the Add Another Detail to Collect button to add any other details you want your AI receptionist to get from the client. Once you add your detail prompt, click Save.
Note: You can rearrange the details you want collected and when you want your AI receptionist to collect those details on a call. Do this by clicking on the reorder icon next to each detail number and dragging up or down. These changes automatically save.
Once you’re done setting up this section, scroll down and click Next at the bottom of the page.
Here are some common customer questions AI Receptionist can answer for your business.
In this next section, define the information you would like your AI receptionist to answer on calls.
This section will be your knowledge base for your AI receptionist. You will have some pre-filled General FAQs and questions based on your service type. These questions and answers are based on your initial setup input with Joist.
You can view each question and answer by clicking on the down arrow, which will open up the list of questions and answers. You can delete these questions and answers by clicking on the Trash Can icon on the right side of the prompt.
Click on the Add Another Customer Question button to add your custom questions and answers. Your AI receptionist will answer questions based on the answers you have saved. Once you add your questions and answers, click Save.
Note: You can rearrange the order in which your AI receptionist asks questions. Do this by clicking on the reorder icon beside each detail number and dragging up or down. These changes automatically save.
Once you’re done setting up this section, scroll down and click Next at the bottom of the page.
Great! Your AI Receptionist is ready for a test customer call.
In this next section, create the message your AI receptionist will use when answering a call from a client. For example, “Welcome to A1 Electric! My name is Alex, and I'm here to assist you. How can I help you today?”
Once you have written the greeting message for your AI receptionist, click Save Intro Message and run a test call to see how all the information you just provided will sound on a call.
Click on Start Test Call. This allows you to hear how your AI receptionist will handle calls based on all the sections that have been filled out up until this point.
You can click on End Call to stop the call.
Once you end the call, you will see a new section on that page that says “How did that sound?”
This section will have 2 options:
I need to make some changes
If you click this option, it will give you multiple buttons to jump back to different sections to make edits to the greeting message, detail prompts, FAQs, AI receptionist tone, and voice. You can do that by clicking on the relevant buttons.
2. I’m happy, let’s continue
When you’re happy with your AI receptionist set-up, click I’m Happy, Let’s Continue at the bottom-right corner of this section. This will move you forward to setting up your Notifications.
Step 2: Call Notifications
This step will help you choose where call summaries and customer details are sent.
On this page, you will see your default email already linked. You can change this by clicking on Edit on the right-hand side of the email and then Save changes.
You can add multiple emails and phone numbers by clicking on Add email or Add Phone Number, filling out the new email or number, and clicking Add email or Add Phone Number again. Once added, it will show up under the Current Call Notifications list at the top of the page.
For any email and phone number that is added, call summaries and customer details will be emailed texted to that number.
Step 3: Choose how you want your AI receptionist to handle your calls.
This steps helps you set up how AI Receptionist handles your calls
You will have 2 options: your AI receptionist can Answer Missed Calls Only or Answer All Customer Calls.
Click on the option that fits your business. Once you have clicked on one of the options, you will be prompted to select how you want to set up your call forwarding.
When you're done selecting the options on this page, click Continue to complete the final section of this step.
Step 4: Start capturing calls
On this page, you will get the final instructions on how to set up your call forwarding baed on your selections in the previous step.
After you have set-up your call forwarding, click Start 14-Day Free Trial at the bottom of the page.
Congratulations! You’ve completed the setup and your AI receptionist is now live. In your Zyratalk dashboard, you will have different tutorial videos that can help you navigate and understand the different sections of your account.
