Along with call recordings you can find in your Interactions page of your Zyratalk dashboard, the AI Receptionist will also transcribe calls for you.
How AI Receptionist transcribing works
Before the AI can respond, it first converts the caller’s spoken words into text using a transcription tool. The AI then generates a response based on that text.
Because of this, the AI can only work with what the transcriber detects. If the transcription is inaccurate, the AI’s response may also be incorrect.
Transcription limitations and accuracy
Transcription issues are uncommon, but they can happen. Like any technology, transcription tools are not perfect and may occasionally:
Mishear certain words
Miss parts of a sentence
Interpret sounds incorrectly
At this time, transcription accuracy is not something that can be fully controlled or instantly fixed.
Why transcription errors might happen
Several factors can affect how accurately speech is transcribed:
Call quality
Low volume, poor connection, or audio breaking up can make it difficult to capture speech clearly.
Background noise
Noise from TVs, conversations, traffic, pets, or music can interfere with transcription.
Unusual or complex words
Names, addresses, technical terms, slang, or foreign words may be harder to recognize.
Overlapping speech
If multiple people speak at once, or if the caller talks over the AI, parts of the conversation may be missed.
Speech clarity
Mumbling, speaking too quickly, whispering, or being far from the microphone can reduce accuracy.
Accents and dialects
Strong accents or unique pronunciation patterns may sometimes be misinterpreted, especially when combined with other factors such as noise or poor audio quality.
